October 02, 2010 17:55 - According to a testimony of an eyewitness, six people that were arrested yesterday after 10pm near the attacked police station Place du Jeu de Balle were heavily mistreated inside. The beatings, kickings, spittings, insultings took several hours until they were brought to Palace de Justice. At least one of the arrested was visibly injured and constantly asking for a doctor. Dozens of police were present, the harassments took place in front of the office of the head of the police station. A detailed report will follow in the next days.

October 02, 2010 16:30 - The demonstration has arrived at the Parc Maximilien.


October 02, 2010 16:10 - Demonstrators climbed on lamppost and hung a giant "Noborder" banner. There are also banners talking about the trade unionist demonstration of last Wednesday, for example "les policiers sont aussi de travailleurs" ("the police are also workers"). Undercover police everywhere, demonstrators are singing songs for them "it's not easy to be an undercover policeman". Right now the demonstration is at Porte d'Anvers.

October 02, 2010 13:20 - The center of Molenbeek (popular neighbourhood with lot's of migrants) is under siege. Riot police walking around with dogs. All the streets towards the canal, where the demonstration will pass, are blocked. They want to avoid at any cost that the youngsters from the neighbourhood rejoin the demo.

October 01, 2010 20:45 - There is lot of police near the Bourse, behind the Bourse there are riot cops. and there are several police trucks at the Place Sainctelette, this is at the bridge nearest to the camp. So when people want to leave the camp site they should do it intelligently.

October 01, 2010 19:55 - More arrests. A first bus with arrestees has already left. A journalist was arrested, cameras and microphones are not welcome. Everything is going on on the side of the esplanade near the Midi tower. Inside the railwaystation there are still a lot of affinity groups.

October 01, 2010 19:35 - Around the Midi station. On the side of Eurostar there are many police trucks. Inside the railwaystation there are many affinity groups. At the main entrance of the Metro no police visible. On the side of Avenue Fonsny there is noone to be seen. Inside the metrostation there are undercover police, some of them were at the demo last Wednesday and are dangerous. For the moment the access to the station from Boulevard Lemonnier and Avenue Fonsny seems free but that can quickly change.

6 people have been arrested during a succesful blockade of British Petroleum headquarters, between 11.50AM and 12.45 PM.
They will be released around 21PM close to the street marché au charbon, in the city center of brussel.

September 29, 2010 21:45 - The wounded people are back on the camping site, except one German man in his fifties. He is still in the hospital with a serious problem on his neck. From the activists who were arrested this afternoon, the first have arrived back at the camp.

September 29, 2010 16:10 - At the hospital St.-Pierre there is one German woman 20 years old with a headwound, one German man 22 years old with a headwound. The mediaactivists from Indymedia are gassed, one of them arrested. Other wounded people have been evacuated by activists and by the police. The ones evacuated by the activists are in a hospital. The ones arrested by the police have not arrived yet. People arrested and sitting on the ground have to shut up or they are bludgeoned. At the Chaussée de waterloo there are two busses with arrested activists. One with 32 persons, the second with 40 persons.


September 29, 2010 15:50 - The demonstration is moving again. About 200 people, trade unionists and people from the neighbourhood are staying with the anticapitalist bloc at the Porte de Hal. A cameraperson from Indymedia had his camera taken by the police.


September 29, 2010 15:45 - At the Rue de la Victoire 2 persons arrested, one person protesting the arrest of the other. Undercover police with telescopic bludgeons try to snatch people from the bloc who are in main demo.

September 29, 2010 15:40 - At the Chaussée de Waterloo about 50 persons arrested.

September 29, 2010 15:35 - At the Porte de Hal, one person was evacuated by an ambulance, one person has been arrested.

September 29, 2010 15:25 - 30 persons were forced to sit down in de Chaussée de Waterloo. At the Porte de Hal there are about 100 activists trying to join them. Objects were being thrown. At one point the police surrounding the activists were surrounded by the trade unionists.



September 29, 2010 15:15 - Police removed the anticapitalist bloc from the main demonstration and drove them into another street. There was a lot of gas and bludgeoning. The activists are forced to sit down. Trade unionists are still trying to reach the activists.

September 29, 2010 15:00 - At the Porte de Hal the bloc is stopped. Trade unionists want to be in solidarity with the anticapitalists but police charges. Bludgeoning, gas, arrests.

September 29, 2010 14:55 - The anticapitalist bloc is being kettled by the riot cops. They will be arrested at any moment.


September 29, 2010 14:45 - The anticapitalist bloc is inside the main demonstration now. Behind them they have the Polish trade union Solidarnosc. First Solidarnosc was keeping 100m distance, but after some communication they came closer but there is still a gap. The anticapitalist bloc is in between the Midi station and the Porte de Hal. On their left police vans are trying to come closer. They are surrounded by a number of undercover cops.


September 29, 2010 14:35 - The police is trying to separate the anticapitalist bloc from the main demonstration. They threaten to charge.


September 29, 2010 14:25 - About ten persons are arrested at the metro station Yzer. They were probably coming from the camp site on tour & taxis. The metro station is still garded by the cops.


September 29, 2010 14:10 - Some demonstrators could join the main demonstration. They have abandoned the truck and the banners. Bottles were thrown at the undercover cops.


September 29, 2010 14:05 - Police is arresting people in the neighbourhood of Place Bara, the truck is isolated.

September 29, 2010 14:00 - At Place Bara, about 150 activists could join the main demonstration. The police stopped the truck of the anti-capitalist bloc so the people stopped and returned to the truck. The police try to surround the demonstrators. Everybody is running in all directions.


September 29, 2010 13:55 - About 100 activists are still blocked at Place Bara. Wooden letters saying "BORDER" are burning.

September 29, 2010 13:40 - About 240 arrested activists are being held at the baracks of the National Reserve of the Federal Police in Etterbeek (Brussels).

September 27, 2010 18:40 - There was the tour bus this morning. About fifty people attended. The number of cops was excessive, several places were totally blocked. Everyone returned safely to the camp after the tour.

September 26, 2010 22:10 - Everyone seems to be returned from the first demo (including those injured and those arrested). The general assembly is held every morning at 10am.



September 26, 2010 19:00 - People are coming back to Brussels. The demonstrators on the train are "escorted" by the police and a lot of police is waiting for them at the Nord station. One woman is badly hurt, she was brought to the hospital in Vilvoorde. The person who was beaten up by the police is a photographer. He took a picture of a policeman who was hurt in the face. That same policeman was leading the "snatch". The photographer was pulled behind a bloc of concrete and beaten up. We have no news about him.


September 26, 2010 18:45 - Right now people are on the train to the Nord station. A lot of police is waiting for them there. Jump on your bicycle and go support them!


September 26, 2010 18:05 - About half an hour ago one person was snatched out of the demonstration. The police took him apart and beated him uop badly. The lawyer who was present witnessed what happened and confirmed that there was no question of self-defence.


September 26, 2010 17:50 - The police has pushed the demo to the bridge at the railway station. People are looking for the 11 persons that have been released and will then go down to the railwaystation to take the train. The police brought out all their gear, helicopters, horses, watercanon etc.


September 26, 2010 17:25 - The demonstration is moving again in the direction of the railway station, pushed in the back by police on horses. The 11 activists arrested before have been released at the railwaystation. 5 other persons were arrested when trying to break through the police line. Apparently the atmosphere is hot and people are quite agitated.
